I took the first steps in my career as a web developer in May 2021 after enrolling with SheCodes.I saw the COVID-19 pandemic and consequential lockdown as a time for self-improvement and an opportunity that would likely not come my way again.I first came across coding when I decided to try and get a little understanding of what my partner does for a living, and try and work out why he got so fired up about it! Whilst I dabbled in Python briefly, I found my place with HTML, CSS and JavaScript - the perfect combination of logic, organisation and creativity.
I have recently attained my SheCodes Certificates in 'Introduction to Coding','Front End Development', and 'Responsive Development'. During this time I completed a landing page on the various types of diamond cuts available to the customer when choosing an engagement ring, and also created my first app, which I entitled 'The WeatherCat' and enjoyed putting a creative twist on a functional project. I am currently completing a third SheCodes course in Responsive Development, and am also building a website for a dear friend for her successful art business. The next project I will be embarking on is a joint project with my partner, as we are getting married in December and so will be making our very own wedding website!
When I'm not at the computer, I love to be outside! A keen 5K and 10K athlete, I race Stevenage parkun weekly, am part of Stevenage Striders RC and enjoy competing in events across the country. I completed the Virtual Manchester Marathon in October 2020 and have many more goals ahead of me.
I also enjoy going on long walks in the countryside with my partner, take on baking commissions for friends and family and currently divide the remainder of my free time between coding personal projects and playing my guitar.
